Session information

Introduction

We run three archery sessions every Thursday night during term time at Leith Academy sports hall.  If you are new to Archery or to the club you must attend an introductory and safety session.

Every session is run by the Field Captain.  The Field Captain will go through a safety briefing and will then instruct the lineperson to start the session.

To ensure that our archery evenings are fun and safe for everyone to enjoy, we ask everyone to follow our session rules. Please follow instructions given by the coaches at the session - they are there to help you and ensure the safety of everyone taking part. Please see our Rules page.

It is your responsibility to have completed a Safety Induction Session at Leith Community Archers (LCA). You will not be allowed to shoot until you have completed the session. By progressing you are confirming that you are able to shoot safely and understand the rules of LCA. LCA reserves the right to refuse participation

Safety Induction Session

You must attend an introductory session to ensure that you can shoot safely and competently if you:-

  • Are new to Archery and have never done it before.
  • Have done it before, but it was a while ago. (Over 1 year)
  • Have shot before, but are new to the Leith Community Archery Club.

After completion of the Safety Induction Session, you will be able to return to shoot with us.

Variations of family group - you could have one adult and three children or 2 adults and 2 children - so long as you are all participating.  If you are an adult that does not want to participate but has children that do, you can pay £1 per child, or £4 for 4 children. However, you must be present with the children.

Arrows

You will be allocated 4 arrows to shoot with.  The arrows will have the same coloured fletches (flights).  This allows:-

  • You to identify your arrows in the target as you may be sharing the target with up to 3 other people.
  • You to keep track of your progress and develop your shooting skills.
  • Archers to compete with each other.
  • The instructors to occasionally set up games and challenges for participants. And finally
  • Helps the club to maintain the equipment more easily.

You are responsible for the arrows and must return them to either the floor quiver or to an instructor at the end of the session. If one of the arrows becomes damaged just let one of the instructors or volunteers know and they will either supply you with a new set or one individual arrow.

We understand that everyone's financial situation is different, so please pay what you can afford - we want to make archery accessible to all!
